Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Forty elderly women; clinically stable; will be included in the study; divided into two groups: 20 for the Otago group and 20 for the Otago group with an unstable base.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Moderate to severe dementia according to the Mini-Mental State Examination score (include the raw score), uncorrected visual disorders, motor sequelae from neurological disorders or other musculoskeletal conditions that prevent participation in the program.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A reduction in the risk of falls in institutionalized older women is expected after the intervention, verified through the Timed Up and Go test and the City of the Center Fall Risk Index, based on the observation of a decrease in the execution time of the Timed Up and Go test and a reduction in the total score of the fall risk index when comparing pre- and post-intervention assessments.;An improvement in balance in institutionalized older women is expected after the intervention, verified through the Short Physical Performance Battery, based on the observation of an increase in the total score of the instrument and improvement in the scores of static balance, gait speed, and chair stand components in post-intervention assessments compared to pre-intervention assessments.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
An improvement in functional physical performance in institutionalized older women is expected after the intervention, verified through the Short Physical Performance Battery, based on the observation of an increase in the overall score of the instrument, indicating improved physical functioning when comparing pre- and post-intervention assessments.;An improvement in lower limb muscle strength in institutionalized older women is expected after the intervention, verified through performance on the chair stand test of the Short Physical Performance Battery, based on the observation of a reduction in the time required to perform the test and an increase in the specific score of this component in post-intervention assessments compared to pre-intervention assessments.
