Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected to find greater efficacy and efficiency in the treatment of open bite in early mixed dentition with a fixed palatal crib associated with orofacial myofunctional therapy compared to treatment with a fixed palatal grid alone. For this purpose, cephalometric radiographs taken pre- and post-intervention will be used, which will be digitized/analyzed in the Dolphin® program. We will observe the frequency of overbite correction and treatment time | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| It is expected to observe a positive relationship between changes in tongue pressure force with orofacial myofunctional therapy and changes in the treatment of open bite in early mixed dentition. To achieve this, measurements of tongue pressure force will be used pre- and post-intervention using the Iowa Oral Performance Instrument (IOPI) and cephalometric radiographs taken pre- and post-intervention, which will be digitized/analyzed in the Dolphin® program. We will observe changes in tongue pressure force and cephalometric measurements | — |
