Adults with uncomplicated P. falciparum infections and will be treated with artesunate plus 25 mg / kg Lariam®.

Adults with uncomplicated P. falciparum infections and will be treated with artesunate plus 25 mg / kg of mefloquine.

Eligibility
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients male or non-pregnant women from 18 years of age. 2. Infection only with P. falciparum, with a parasitic density between 250 and 50,000 asexual parasites / mm3 determined by microscopic thick-film examination. 3. Informed consent of the patient. 4. Willingness to be hospitalized during the first 24 hours after therapy is initiated and return for follow-up visits for 56 days.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnant women or patients under 18 years of age. 2. Those who in the opinion of the study doctor, evidence a complicated or severe malaria. 3. History of a concomitant chronic disease or a disease that could interfere with the absorption of MQ. 4. History of mefloquine hypersensitivity. 5. History of neuropsychiatric disease or problems with cardiac conduction.
