Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Age 3–15 years. • Diagnosis of intermittent exotropia. • Basic or divergence-excess type. • Distance deviation =15 PD. • Scheduled for primary strabismus surgery. • Best corrected visual acuity appropriate for age. • Ability to complete follow-up for 12 months. • Written informed consent from parents or legal guardians.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Previous strabismus surgery. • Paralytic or restrictive strabismus. • Sensory exotropia. • Neurological disorders affecting ocular motility. • Developmental delay interfering with examination. • Amblyopia (>2-line interocular difference). • Ocular pathology affecting visual function. • Inability to comply with follow-up.

•Successful postoperative alignment defined as ocular deviation within ±10 prism diopters (PD) of orthotropia at distance fixation.
