Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Children and adolescents aged 0-19 years who are clinically stable and eligible for physiotherapy intervention. Paediatric patients with burn wounds involving or crossing joint(s) including the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee or ankle. Inpatient paediatric burn patients receiving physiotherapy services at the Burns Unit under either deep sedation or standard physiotherapy care. Burn patients under age of 18 years old whose caregivers provide informed consent and assent is obtained, for those 18 and 19 years old whose informed consent is obtained.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with wounds that are not burn-related injuries. Adult patients with burn injuries. Paediatric burn patients for whom assent and/or caregiver consent is not obtained. Paediatric burn patients with medical contraindications to physiotherapy intervention or sedation determined by the treating clinical team

MeasureTime frame
Pain assessment conducted using two age-stratified instruments. The Face, Leg, Activity, Cry and Consolability FLACC scale for 0-7 years old and the Faces Pain Scale-Revised FPS-R for 8-19 years.;Functional Outcomes assessed using two age -appropriate instruments. the Wee Functional Independence Measure WeeFIM for under 7years old, and Functional Independence Measure FIM for 8-19 years old.

MeasureTime frame
Range of Motion ROM of all affected joints will be measured by a standard universal goniometer following standardized landmark identification and positioning protocols and recorded in degrees.
