Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study included patients older than 45 years, with medically uncontrolled glaucoma (IOP > 21 mmHg with maximum tolerated antiglaucoma medications) that developed after previous clear corneal phacoemulsification surgery with posterior chamber IOL implantation, with the presence of glaucomatous optic neuropathy and evidence of glaucomatous visual field defects, with a mean deviation (MD) = -6 dB.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Eyes that have undergone a previous conjunctival surgery, including combined cataract and glaucoma, or Extracapsular cataract extraction (ECCE) with scleral tunnel. Eyes with complicated cataract surgery, anterior chamber (AC) IOL, or vitreous in the AC. Also eyes with coexisting posterior segment pathology that may affect the final visual outcome

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measure is to report the percentage of complete success defined according to the stage of glaucomatous damage for each patient as the reduction of IOP to be below 18 mmHg for mild, below 15 mmHg for moderate, and below 12 mmHg for severe patients, without the need for antiglaucoma.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
to report qualified success, defined as the reduction to reach the target IOP with the addition of medical therapy. ;report failure, defined as failure to achieve the target IOP or IOP less than 5 mmHg with the development of hypotony maculopathy, reoperation for glaucoma, or loss of perception of light
