Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult patients who presented with rectal adenocarcinoma and were candidates for surgical intervention. patients older than 18 years of age at time of procedure.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Cancer invading adjacent organs (T4) - Distant metastasis (M1) - Severe concomitant disease that might limit compliance or completion of the protocol, any other malignancy, - Pregnant or breastfeeding females - Hereditary colorectal cancer and emergency operation.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary aim of this study is to examine the safety and efficacy of robotic colorectal procedures in an adult population diagnosed with rectal cancer compared with the conventional laparoscopic approach, using a systematic, prospective, randomized controlled trial design.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Operative time, intraoperative blood loss, conversion to open surgery, time to first flatus, time to first bowel motion, postoperative pain score, length of hospital stay, protective stoma formation, and postoperative complications including anastomotic leak post-intervention.
