Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Sporting Level: Must hold a Black Belt (1st Dan or higher). Experience: Minimum of 7 years of systematic Taekwondo training. Active Status: Currently training at least 3 to 5 times per week and competing at a national or international level. Health Status: In good physical health with no chronic medical conditions. Sleep Profile: Must have a "Neutral Chronotype" (determined by the Horne and Östberg questionnaire) to ensure they are neither extreme "morning" nor "evening" types. Consent: For Cadets and Juniors, a written informed consent from parents/guardians is mandatory.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Injuries: Any musculoskeletal injury in the last 6 months that could hinder maximal physical effort. Substances: Use of tobacco, alcohol, or any ergogenic supplements (like creatine or caffeine pills) during the study period. Medication: Currently taking any medication that affects the nervous system or heart rate. Sleep Disorders: Any history of insomnia, sleep apnea, or irregular sleep-wake cycles (e.g., shift work). Illness: Any fever or viral infection within 7 days prior to the testing dates.

Taekwondo Anaerobic Kick Test (TAIKT) - Total Kicks. This test measures the total number of roundhouse kicks performed during a high-intensity bout (6 sets of 10 seconds of kicking with 10 seconds of recovery). It is the gold standard for measuring Taekwondo-specific anaerobic power

MeasureTime frame
Countermovement Jump (CMJ) Height. Athletes will perform a vertical jump from a standing position with a preliminary dip. The height will be measured in centimeters (cm) to assess leg power.;Taekwondo Agility Specific Test (TAST). A timed test where the athlete will move in specific Taekwondo patterns. The outcome will be the time taken to complete the circuit in seconds (s).;Peak Heart Rate (HRpeak). The highest heart rate will be recorded during the TAIKT test using a polar heart rate monitor (beats per minute).; Blood Lactate Concentration ([La]). A small blood sample taken from the fingertip to measure the intensity of the effort and muscle fatigue.;Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE). Athletes will use a 6–20 scale (Borg Scale) to describe how hard they felt the exercise was.
