Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Age = 18 years Admission to ICU At high risk of epileptic activity, defined by at least one of the following: Unexplained altered consciousness Recent clinical seizure Post–status epilepticus Intracerebral hemorrhage or subarachnoid hemorrhage Traumatic brain injury Acute ischemic stroke with cortical involvement Post–cardiac arrest coma Encephalitis or acute encephalopathy Neurosurgical patient with impaired consciousness Sepsis-associated encephalopathy with neurological fluctuation

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Expected death or withdrawal of care within 24 hours Immediate access to continuous expert EEG monitoring already available Stable chronic epilepsy without acute deterioration Inability to apply EEG monitoring Known pregnancy Refusal of consent by patient or legal representative

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Electrographic seizure burden within 72 hours after ICU admission, adjudicated by blinded expert EEG review.
