Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women with reliable LMP and or USS dating prior to or at 20 weeks gestation. Uncomplicated, singleton pregnancies at 40 weeks Parturient with no contraindications to vaginal delivery.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnancy before 40 weeks gestation. Women with previous caesarean section. Multiple gestation. Antepartum haemorrhage. Women with medical conditions in pregnancy such as pre-gestational or gestational diabetes, hypertensive disorders in pregnancy, HIV and sickle cell disease. Women in labour. Active genital infection (including herpes, cervical or vaginal infections). Women with a closed cervix not amenable to sweeping.
