Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. All low-risk singleton pregnancies at a gestational age of 40-41weeks who is not in labour and there is no contraindication to vaginal delivery. 2. Evidence of proper calendar dating using the last normal menstrual period (LNMP) or early ultrasound scan 3. Delivery in the study location, ESUT Teaching Hospital Parklane Enugu.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Women with contraindication to vaginal delivery such as the contracted pelvis, transverse lie, previous caesarean sections and placental praevia. 2. Women who are not sure of their LNMP and without any early ultrasound scan 3. Medical disease in pregnancy 4. Term premature rupture of membranes 5. Previous caesarean section 6. Breech presentation 7. Those with regular uterine contraction and Bishop Score of 7 and above 8. Those who do not consent to participate in the study
