Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1-Patients scheduled for hip fractures surgeries: (fixation of fracture neck femur, intertrochanteric fractures and subtrochanteric) such as dynamic hip screw DHS and proximal femur nailing PFN. 2-American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status (ASA) grades I, II. 3-Age group 20 and older. 4-Both genders.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: -Patient refusal. -Contraindication to neuro-axial block. -Neuromuscular diseases (as myopathies, myasthenia gravis, etc.) -Hematological diseases, bleeding or coagulation disorder, hemoglobin level below 9mg/dl. -Psychiatric diseases, addiction. -Local skin infection at site of the block. -local anesthetic sensitivity. -Multiple trauma patients. -Unstable cardiovascular condition. -Diabetic neuropathies. -In case of conversion of spinal anesthesia to general anesthesia.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The analgesic effect in terms of facilitating the positioning of patients for spinal anesthesia before surgery via assessment of easiness of performance of Spinal Anesthesia using VAS Assessment of postoperative analgesia at 3-, 6-, 12- and 24-hours using VAS.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assessment of sensory block. Quadriceps weakness before spinal anesthesia. VAS during spinal anesthesia. Anesthesiologist satisfaction. Effective duration of analgesia (time to first request for analgesia). Postoperative pain score at rest and with a straight leg raise of the affected limb. Total analgesic requirement. Complications and side effects.
