Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Children within the age group of 6-12 years, and belonging to ASA (American Society of Anaesthesiologist) category I (Normal healthy child patients). 2) Children undergoing treatment requiring an extraction of primary or permanent molar tooth under local anaesthesia. 3) Patients presenting for dental treatment for the first time.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Children with special health care needs, especially immunocompromised children or those with medical conditions such as epilepsy that may be triggered by the use of head mounted devices or children with ASA greater than category 1. 2) Children who have a predisposition for childhood anxiety disorders, screened at their first attendance using SCARED (Screen for Child Anxiety Related Disorders) questionnaire i.e., children with scores > or = 25. 3) Children whose primary teeth are mobile (> grade 1) or whose roots are up to two thirds resorbed. 4) Children whose parents did not give written informed consent or children above 8 years who refused to give assent.
