Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Young people aged 15–35 years at the time of enrolment Resident in Nigeria for at least the past 10 years Ownership of a smartphone with reliable internet access and ability to download and use mobile applications Obese at baseline, defined as a body mass index (BMI) = 30.0 kg/m² No plans for prolonged travel or relocation outside the study area during the intervention period Free from known medical conditions that could significantly affect weight, physical activity, or dietary behaviour Able to read, understand, and communicate in English

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals younger than 15 years or older than 35 years Non-residents of Nigeria or individuals who have lived in Nigeria for less than 10 years Overweight or normal-weight individuals, defined as BMI < 30.0 kg/m² Presence of diagnosed chronic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes, cardiovascular disease, endocrine disorders) that may influence weight, diet, or physical activity Pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, or those planning pregnancy during the study period Current use of medications known to affect body weight or appetite (e.g., corticosteroids, antipsychotics, weight-loss drugs) Participation in another weight management, lifestyle, or clinical intervention study during the study period Physical limitations or disabilities that preclude safe participation in physical activity components of the intervention Inability to read, understand, or communicate in English Lack of access to a smartphone or stable internet connectivity, or inability to use mobile applications Planned prolonged travel or relocation outside the study area during the intervention period
