Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: pregnant women aged 19 to 45 years term pregnancies (=37 weeks of gestation) who were scheduled for elective cesarean section under spinal anesthesia
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: pre-eclampsia, chronic hypertension, or cardiovascular disease, contraindications to regional anesthesia such as local infection or coagulopathy, a history of epilepsy, psychiatric illness that could impair communication, known hypersensitivity to ketamine, declined to give informed consent, or had an American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status of class III or IV.
