Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Hypertensive patients 18 years and above who attended GOPC JUTH, with a diagnosis made at least three months prior to the conduct of the study 2. Patients who had been on at least one hypertensive medication for at least three months in the clinic to ensure familiarity with prescribed hypertensive medications 3. Patients who consented to the study and signed the consent form
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Hypertensive patients with other co-morbidities (diabetes mellitus, heart failure, cerebrovascular accident, chronic kidney disease, cognitive impairment) 2. Patients who required admission 3. Patients who resided outside Jos to reduce attrition. 4. A second member of a household in which a member had been included in the study to minimize contamination of subjects.
