Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Mechanically ventilated patients Aged 18 years or more Pneumonia either VAP or HAP (defined as the presence of a new or progressive infiltrate(s) on chest radiograph and at least two of the following signs: fever, defined as core temperature >38.0°C or hypothermia, core temperature <35.0°C leukocyte count =11,000/mm3 or =4,500/mm3 new onset of purulent sputum production or respiratory secretions, or a change of sputum characteristics)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of primary lung cancer or another malignancy metastasized to the lung Known or suspected active tuberculosis, cystic fibrosis, AIDS. Have received gentamicin within the preceding seven days Previously documented intolerance or allergy to inhaled aminoglycoside
