Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1.Booked Pregnant women with singleton foetus at term. 2.Pregnant women scheduled for Caesarean Section either elective or emergency under spinal anaesthesia. 3.Un-booked pregnant women with singleton foetus at term who present in labour and ended up with caesarean delivery. 4.Pregnant women who are haemodynamically stable with no history of bleeding disorders.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1.Women who are diagnosed with certain medical conditions in pregnancy like cardiac diseases, severe preeclampsia, eclampsia, placenta previa and others. 2.Women with known allergy to tranexamic acid. 3.Women with a history of thromboembolic disorders.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome was intraoperative blood loss measured using the gravimetric method.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes included changes in pre- and post-operative haematocrit, the need for additional uterotonics, the need for blood transfusion, any adverse neonatal outcome and the occurrence of adverse effects.
