Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All consenting patients with oligospermia attending the general gynaecologic and infertility clinic at the HRRP at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with history of testicular failure (e.g., mumps orchitis),varicocoele or within 6 months post varicocelectomy or unilateral or bilateral herniorrhaphy, undescended testis, known chromosomal disorders or genetic condition( like Klinefelter syndrome, cystic fibrosis), testicular cancer or testicular surgery affecting spermatogenesis. 2. Current hormonal therapy, anabolic steroids, or medications known to affect semen parameters. 3. Significant systemic illness (e.g., uncontrolled diabetes) or contraindications to clomiphene citrate.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measure will be the mean change in total sperm count and sperm concentration. The secondary outcome measure will include FSH, LH, prolactin, oestrogen, testosterone levels, mean change in sperm morphology, motility and vitality as well as any side effects of the medication.
