Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All consenting booked pregnant women with singleton gestation attending the antenatal clinic at the FTHL.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria would include • Patients with twin gestations, • Patients on cotrimoxazole, • Patients with Sickle Cell anaemia, • Patients with Anaemia in pregnancy, • Patient with Bleeding disorders • HIV pregnant woman. • Participants with known allergy to sulphonamides • 24weeks GA. • Non consenting participants.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measures of this study will be the prevalence of peripheral parasitaemia and cord malaria at delivery among both groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcome measures will include maternal haemoglobin concentration, birth-weights of both groups.
