Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Age = 14 years Undergoing open appendectomy for acute appendicitis (elective cases excluded) Skin incision type: McBurney/Gridiron or Lanz Able and willing to provide informed consent (patient or legal guardian)
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Laparoscopic appendectomy or conversion to laparoscopic approach Previous abdominal surgery at the same site Pre-existing skin infection at the surgical site
