Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Eligible patients were adults with cytologically or histologically confirmed pleural effusion in the setting of malignancy who were capable of providing informed consent.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included pleural effusion from non-malignant causes (e.g., heart failure, pneumonia), prior thoracic surgery on the same side, coagulopathy or active bleeding disorder, uncontrolled systemic infection, or refusal to participate.
