Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - All consenting parturients - Classified as American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I or II. - Aged between 18 and 42 years. - Either primiparous or multiparous. - Full-term singleton pregnancy. - In active labor with cervical dilatation of 4 cm. - Favorable Bishop score. - Live fetus in cephalic presentation. - Reassuring fetal heart rate pattern on admission.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - A known allergy to local anesthetics, - Any contraindication to neuraxial anesthesia, - ASA physical status greater than II, - Gestational age below 38 weeks, - Multiple gestation, - Intrauterine fetal demise.
