Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. American Society of Anesthesiologists physical status grade I, II and III. 2. Age between 30 and 60 years. 3. Both sexes. 4. Elective lumbar spine surgeries expected to last more than 2 h.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Patient refusal. 2. Psychiatric diseases. 3. Body Mass Index > 35 Kg/m2. 4. Previous intrathoracic procedures. 5. History of very severe obstructive pulmonary disease (forced expiratory volume in 1 s 40 mmHg) 7. Pregnancy.
