Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The primary outcome of this study is to detect phrenic nerve palsy in upper trunk nerve block using different volumes of Bupivacaine (low volume vs high volume). | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| The intensity of postoperative pain using (VAS score). ;Duration of analgesia, defined as the time to first post operative analgesic rescue (nalbuphine Hcl 0.05mg/kg IV). ;Total dose of post operative analgesic requirement. ;The degree of sparing of motor power of the upper limb. Motor block is evaluated by shoulder abduction (axillary nerve, C5) and shoulder external rotation (suprascapular nerve, C6), Handgrip is evaluated by asking the patient to make a fist and squeeze the assessor’s fingers. It is graded on a three-point scale (2 = normal; 1 = weakness; and 0 = complete loss of power).; The adverse effects of upper trunk nerve block using ultrasound guided technique including local anesthetic toxicity, hemodynamic instability, hematoma at the site of injection, and pneumothorax. | — |
