Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • women between ages 19 years minimum and 44 years maximum • Term pregnancy (= 37 weeks' gestation). • Need for mediolateral episiotomy during vaginal delivery. • Gave verbal informed consent for participation.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Have a known allergy or hypersensitivity to lidocaine or magnesium sulphate. • Have pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, or other hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. • Have coagulopathy, perineal infection, or third- or fourth-degree perineal tears. • Are using opioid analgesics or magnesium-containing medications. • They are unable to understand the pain assessment scale due to blindness or cognitive impairment.
