Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Eligible patients were scheduled for elective surgical procedure, =60 years of age, with a family member who visits them regularly, having a Richmond Agitation Sedation Scale (RASS) score between -1 and +1, and having a negative Confusion Assessment Method for Intensive Care Unit (CAM-ICU) scale score at the start of the trial.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients hospitalized in the SICU for less than three days, whose score was four or greater according to the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification1, or with substantial hearing and visual impairments, psychiatric disorders, or patients with score of =24 on the Mini Mental Status Examination (MMSE)
