Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Age 18 and above. Permanent resident within the area of the GPC Diagnosis of T2DM with fasting blood glucose (FBG) = 7.0 mmol/L on screening. BMI 30kg/m2 Non-diabetic individuals without impaired fasting glycaemia (FBG < 6.1mmol/L) without previous clinical diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Able and willing to give informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Current or previous treatment with any glucose-lowering therapy Fasting blood glucose > 15mmol/l Current treatment with oral or intravenous glucocorticoid therapy Prior history of pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer, or pancreatic surgery Current pregnancy - Current diagnosis of cancer
