Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - 6-48 months - MUAC <115mm, - WHZ <-3SD - bilateral pitting oedema without medical complications
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: -prior inpatient SAM treatment - chronic or congenital conditions that could affect growth or food intake, - residence outside the study area
