Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Consenting adult patients aged 18-80 years, scheduled for open posterior spine surgeries

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • Patients with open wounds at the operation site • Patients with active infection • Patients scheduled for repeat spine surgeries • Patients with uncontrolled medical risk factors for developing infections, including diabetes mellitus • Active smokers • Patients with allergy to triclosan or who develop allergy following the use of TCS • Patients who had breach of asepsis during their surgeries

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Rates of surgical site infection in with and without the use of triclosan-coated vicryl sutures and to compare both groups

MeasureTime frame
To determine the species of bacterial isolates in patients who develop surgical site infection in both groups
