Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Were 18 years or older Had been diagnosed with mild to moderate hypertension (defined as BP 140–179/90–109 mmHg) Had been on antihypertensive pharmacologic treatment for at least one month prior to enrollment Owned and could operate an Android smartphone

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Were pregnant Had cognitive impairment Were unable to use a smartphone independently
