Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1). Participants with spirometric evidence of COPD at stages I, II & III based on FEV1% predicted value according to GOLD classification. -mild COPD (Stage I: characterized by airflow limitation with FEV1 =80% predicted; - moderate COPD (Stage II): airflow limitation with =50% FEV1 < 80% predicted; Severe COPD (Stage III): airflow limitation with =30% FEV1 < 50% predicted; 2) COPD participants without exacerbations at least 4 weeks before inclusion in the study. 3) Aged 45 years and above. 4). Participants with mild to severe periodontitis as evidenced by =2 interproximal sites with pocket depth (PD) =5mm 5) Participants with COPD who give verbal and written consent for the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Participants with 35 kg/m2), and antibiotic therapy within 6 weeks before the study. 7. non-consenting participants.
