Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All eligible consenting pregnant women with singleton gestation who presents at the booking clinic Gestational age between 14 to 24weeks

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Allergy to SP and AL - Use of IPT in index pregnancy (before recruitment) - Anaemia at booking - HIV positive -High risk pregnancy (multiple gestation, Sickle cell disease - SCD, pre- existing/gestational diabetes, chronic hypertension, chronic renal disease, Pregnancy induced hypertension - PIH)

Prevalence of maternal parasitaemia at delivery between the two groups

1. Assessment of maternal anaemia by measurement of haemoglobin concentration in the third trimester between the two groups 2. Incidence of LBW between the two groups
