Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: All pre-school age children in selected districts who have lived for at least six months, and whose families have no intention of leaving the study area will be included in the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Preschool-age children whose mothers or caregivers are too sick or mentally unstable to respond to questions as judged by data collectors will be excluded from the study. Additionally, children who have received zinc supplementation within the past 2 to 3 months will also be excluded to allow for a washout period where the effects of supplementation are likely to have diminished.

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome for this study will be serum zinc level of the pre-school children after six months of intervention.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The children's body weight and height Dietary diversity score, and Knowledge, attitude & practice (KAP) among mothers/care takers
