Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: i. Patients within the ages of 18 – 65 years ii. Maxillary or mandibular anterior and premolar single rooted teeth (with single canal) that required endodontic treatment due to irreversible pulpitis with or without symptomatic apical periodontitis. iii. Maxillary or mandibular anterior and premolar single rooted teeth (with single canal) that required endodontic treatment due to traumatic injury to the pulp. iv. Maxillary or mandibular single rooted teeth that could be treated in a single visit. v. Healthy patients without uncontrolled systemic disease.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: i. Patients with root canal anatomy such as curved canals, root resorption, open apices and calcified canals which would make endodontic treatment difficult ii. Root canal retreatment cases iii. Patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus iv. Pregnant patients v. Patients on medication such as analgesics or anti-inflammatory drugs vi. Patients who refused to participate in the study vii. Patients with grossly broken down teeth that had insufficient sound coronal tooth structure to provide an adequate ferrule for a crown. viii. Patients with severe periodontal disease ix. Patients with a degree of mobility greater than 1 x. Patients with pre-treatment swelling and fistula xi. Patients that had multiple teeth requiring endodontic treatment
