Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Preterm infants 28+0 to <34 weeks of gestational age - Within the age of 28 days of life - Minimum birth weight of 1000 g

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Extreme preterm babies born before 28 weeks GA or less than 1000g. - Mothers below 18 years of age - Babies admitted who are above 28 days of life - Unwillingness of the parent or guardian to participate in the study. - Clinical use of probiotics in the mother or infant. - Severe comorbidities in the infant like birth asphyxia, and severe congenital malformations incompatible with life, and genetic metabolic diseases. - Severe co-morbidities or death of the mother making her unable to visit, or provide care for her infant throughout the hospital stay.
