Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients of American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) physical status I or II both sexes aged 20-60 years scheduled for elective shoulder arthroscopic surgery under ultrasound-guided interscalene brachial plexus block

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had allergy to any drug used in the study, chronic illness (HTN, Cardiac, Hepatic,…), under treatment of any a2 agonist or antagonist agents, pregnant women, psychiatric patients drug abusers, history or clinical evidence of central or peripheral neurological disease, coagulopathy or anticoagulant/antiaggregant therapy, infection at the site of the block, contralateral phrenic nerve paresis, and anatomical or vascular abnormality in the upper extremity

MeasureTime frame
measuring cortisol levels and assessing stress response

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
complications such as hematoma, and vascular injury to zero %. Also, there was no incidence of seizures or neuro-axial block
