Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Patients who presented to the General Out-patient Clinic (GOPC) and the Medical Out-patient Clinic (MOPC) with dyspepsia as defined by chronic or recurrent epigastric discomfort or pain with or without bothersome post-prandial fullness and early satiety, who tested positive for H. pylori using the SAT. 2. Patients who were at least 18 years old

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with ‘alarm’ features. 2. Patients who had first-line treatment for H. pylori within the preceding 4 weeks. 3. Patients who were pregnant. 4. Patients with documented allergies to any of the drugs being compared in the study 5. Patients with documented background end-stage kidney disease 6. Patients with established chronic liver disease 7. Patients who have been on PPIs or H2-receptor antagonists for at least two weeks prior to recruitment 8. Patients who had been on antibiotics or Bismuth-containing agents for at least four weeks before recruitment.
