Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients: Presenting for endoscopic sinus surgery who were aged 25 - 65 years. Have no contraindications for regional anesthesia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patient refusal. Patient ASA status = 4. BMI = 35. History of chronic pain or opioid abuse. Allergy to the used drugs in the study. Local infection at the site of the block. Any patient with coagulation disorder or thrombocytopenia. Pre-existing neurologic or anatomic deficits in the fascial bone. Cognitive impairment with difficulties in pain evaluation, and severe psychiatric illness.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Intra-operative hemodynamic stability. Intra-operative analgesia consumption to maintain the desirable blood pressure for nasal surgery. Postoperative Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) score at 2 hours (H2), 12 hours (H12) and 24 hours (H24) after surgery. Riker Agitation Sedation Score (RASS) at 2 hours (H2), 12 hours (H12) and 24 hours (H24) after surgery.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Time to first analgesic requirement within the first 12 hours post-operative. Cumulative analgesic consumption in 24 hours. Surgeon satisfactions. Complications (Tachycardia, agitation, failure of the block, maxillary artery puncture, and abnormal puncture).
