Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Morbid obesity patients (with BMI>40 or with BMI>35 with co-morbidities) who were complaining of GERD symptoms that was confirmed by upper endoscopy and manometry or PH-metry were offered the LSG with hiatoplasty. Patients who completed the follow up (FU) requirements (FU period of at least 12 months followed by upper endoscopy and manometry) were included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who developed procedure-specific complications (as leakage or sleeve stricture) that required surgical re-intervention within the FU period, patients who did not complete the FU requirements (FU period of at least 12 months followed by upper endoscopy and manometry), patients with history of previous bariatric procedures, and patients diagnosed pre-operatively with large hiatus hernia ( > 5cm) were excluded from the study.
