Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • Fetal macrosomia • Previous caesarean deliveries • Cephalopelvic disproportion • Major placenta praevia • Breech presentation • Previous classical scar or complete perineal tear • Transverse lie • Twin gestation and higher order gestation • Maternal request
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Women at term undergoing emergency caesarean delivery • Pregnant women whose spinal anaesthesia was converted to general anaesthesia intraoperatively. • Patients who develop complications of spinal Anaesthesia • Pregnant women with recent history of vomiting or stooling • Patient with anaemia of any cause • Patient with prior bowel surgery • Patient with intraoperative iatrogenic bowel injury • Women who refuse to give consent • History of opioid use • Inability to chewing gum. • Surgery that warrants prolonged observation at the high dependency unit or admission at the intensive care unit • Thyroid disorders diabetes kidney disease Inflammatory bowel disease.
