Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult patients 18 -60 years of age admitted to ICU. 2. Patients manifesting clinically with sepsis or septic shock state and admitted to ICU within 24 hours of sepsis diagnosis. 3. Patients with Glasgow coma scale =13.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy 2. Abnormal brain pathology at CT Brain: intracranial hemorrhage (ICH), stroke, hydrocephalous, brain tumor. 3. Patients with other metabolic causes of encephalopathy: uremic encephalopathy, hepatic encephalopathy, hypoglycemia. 4. Electrolyte imbalance e.g., hyponatremia, hypernatremia, hypokalemia. 5. CNS infection e.g., meningitis and encephalitis 6. Patients with severe carotid stenosis > 70%. 7. Patients on sedation, alcoholic, or drug toxicity that can affect consciousness. 8. Patients with psychiatric disorders e.g: Alzheimer-dementia.. etc
