Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Consenting women with uterine fibroid scheduled for primary abdominal myomectomy.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: i. Women with previous abdominal surgery (previous myomectomy, caesarean delivery). ii. Women who have allergy or hypersensitivity to Tranexamic acid. iii. Women with chronic medical disorders like hypertension, cardiac and pulmonary diseases, chronic endocrine or metabolic diseases such as diabetes, obesity (body mass index >30kg/m2). iv. Patients with bleeding disorder or abnormal/ borderline clotting profile. v. Patient who has received preoperative hormonal therapy (such as GnRH analogue or oral contraceptives pills) that could affect the intra operative bleeding and the duration of operation. vi. Patient who declines participation in the study

• Operation time in minute from skin incision to skin closure. • Myomectomy time in minute starting from first uterine incision to closure of last uterine incision. • Postoperative stay in hospital in days. • Adverse effects of tranexamic acid (thromboembolic incidents, gastrointestinal upset in the form of nausea and vomiting). • The need for blood transfusion either intra operation or post operation.
