Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Male/Female/Non-Binary. 2. Living in Soweto 3. Adolescents/youth aged 14-24 years. 4. Primary caregiver of adolescent is resident in the same household. 5. Scored at risk of probable depression and/or anxiety on screening tools

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Participants with severe intellectual disability or communication difficulties. 2. Inability to read or understand English.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the feasibility of implementation of Boikoetliso Ba Boko adolescent mental health prototype intervention to improve mental health care for adolescents and young people with depression and anxiety.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To examine the implementation fidelity to determine the extent to which the intervention was delivered as planned and the quality of the various components. ;To explore intervention adaptations and reach to capture experiences and changes to the intervention over time.;To explore the experiences of participants who had completed the intervention, their caregivers, and the intervention team, and their perceptions of engagement with the intervention.
