Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The study will include (60) patients (aged 5–12 years), American Society of Anaesthesiologists (ASA I-II) scheduled for elective tonsillectomy (using bipolar electrocautery).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: We will exclude from the study patients with the following conditions 1) Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome 2) Previous peritonsillar abscess formation. 3) Cardiovascular, liver or renal disease. 4) Neurological or psychiatric diseases. 5) Coagulation disturbances. 6) Relevant drug allergies. 7) Difficulties in pain perception and assessment.

The duration of effective analgesia (time from infiltration of study solution to the first rescue analgesic requirement if CHEOPS = 5 will be recorded.

MeasureTime frame
Pain score ;The total amount of pethidine in mg ;Time for starting oral intake ;Post operative nausea and vomiting or other complications like hallucination, negative behaviours or secondary hemorrhage .;Hemodynamic parameters: Heart rate (HR) and mean arterial blood pressure (MAP)
