Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • 20 -65 years old patients from either gender. • Scheduling for elective ERCP under general anesthesia and endotracheal intubation. • patients who expected to remain in the hospital for at least 24 hours
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Patients with sore throat for any reason or obvious hoarseness • Patients with upper respiratory tract infection in past 2 weeks. • History of smoking or asthmatic patient. • Refusal to participate in the study. • Patients undergoing surgeries of the oral cavity and pharynx • More than two attempts at intubation, • use of nasogastric tube or throat packs, • Anticipated rapid-sequence induction or airway difficulty (Mallampatti Grade III and IV) • surgical duration of >120 min • Patients on steroid therapy or History of hypersensitivity to the drug or to opioids. • Body Mass Index > 30 kg/m2,Gastroesophageal reflux disease.
