The aim of this thesis was to study the effects of napping and acute acetaminophen ingestion on cognitive and physical performance after a night of normal sleep (NSN) and a night of sleep restriction (NRS). The different studies aimed to examine: (i) pain perception (PP), perceived exertion (RPE), delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS), and perceived recovery (PRS) in response to the 5-m maximal shuttle run test (5SRT), (ii) changes in cognitive, physical, and perceptual responses after acute ingestion of 1.5 g acetaminophen (APAP) and after a 40-minute nap (ST40), (iii) comparison of physical, cognitive, and perceptual responses between N40 and a 90-minute nap (ST90) after NSN and NRS (iv) after NSN physical, cognitive, and perceptual responses during the 5SRT after acute APAP ingestion (v) after acute APAP ingestion, physical, cognitive, and perceptual responses after NSN and NRS.
