Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: (i) no prior knowledge of judo movements or any related discipline, (ii) normal or corrected-to-normal vision, (iii) no history of neurological, orthopedic, or musculoskeletal disorders within the six months prior to the study.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Prior experience in judo or a related discipline. Uncorrected vision problems. Recent history of neurological, orthopedic, or musculoskeletal disorders. Age outside the range of 15 to 16 years. Inability to obtain informed consent from parents or guardians.

Uchi-mata technical performance A mixed-design [2 groups (SC; YK) × 3 Time (T0; T1; T2)] ANOVA (Figure 1) with repeated measure on the second factor showed (i) a significant Time effect for Technical performance of Uchi-mata exercise ( F(2, 44) = 27.14, p < 0.001, ?p2 = .55), (ii) a no significant group effect ( F(1, 22) = 5.36, p = 0.07, ?p2 = .14), and (iii) a significant effect of a group-by-Time interaction ( F(2, 44) = 5.42, p = .008, ?p2 = .20).

Secondary

For SC group, compared with pre-test (T0), the post-hoc test showed higher scores at (i) posttest (T1) for the technical performance (p<0.001, ? 99 ± 54%, Hedges’g = 2.02), and at (ii) retention test (T2) (p<0.001, ? 113 ± 87%, Hedges’g = 2.15). For YK group, a significant difference was detected only between posttest versus pretest (p<0.05, ? 44 ± 35%, Hedges’g = 1.06) with increased scores at posttest. In addition, the post hoc test revealed that the SC group presented significantly higher retention test scores compared to (YK) group for the technical performance (p < 0.05).
