Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: patients aged 65 years old or more both sexes the ASA class I or II undergoing elective surgeries under general anesthesia and not more than 1 hour.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients on opioid therapy, central nervous system depressants, or with physical dependence on opioids , cardiac, hepatic, or renal disease, pregnancy or lactation, diabetes mellitus, bronchial asthma, and/ or bleeding disorder are not included. We will also exclude patients with established respiratory depression; a history of hypersensitivity to one of the drugs, and/or not willing to participate in the study.

MeasureTime frame
the occurance of post induction hypotension, bradycardia, and hypertension (defined as increased mean arterial pressure by >20% of the baseline reading), mean arterial pressure and heart rate.
