Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criterion for this study will be : • Paediatric patients 2 years to 18 years of age. • ASAI&II. • Patients presenting for elective orthopaedic cases only. • Patients who have adhered to fasting guidelines established. • Patients who have consumed the carbohydrate fluid (PreOPÔ(Nutricia , South Africa) as per standard protocol
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Parents /guardians who refuse to participate in above studies. • Patients that have not adhered to fasting guidelines. • Patients who have co-morbidities that will reduce gastric motility. • Paediatric patients presenting for emergency cases. 9 • First patient on the list to avoid theatre delays.
